Using Music Fonts In Word Documents
Have you ever needed to write a word document for your students and realized that you needed to add musical notation to it?
Computers can all be a bit frustrating sometimes can’t they!
The other day I started to write a document in word and realized that it would look so much better if I just added musical notes and notation to it. I thought it would take me a few minutes to work out a key for a font like opus and put the notes in within a few minutes later.
I soon found that I was completely wrong!
A couple of hours later I was still working on it. I knew that it was all easy to fix once I found some simple websites outlining the key to the font and downloading instructions, but it took me time to find them.
I thought you might find them useful to use as well.
The font I found that had the best selection of musical notation and was really easy to use as it comes with a complete key was MusicSync.
For a complete key of the MusicSync font, just go to:
http://www.fontspace.com/robert-allgeyer/musisync
and I found easy instructions to download MusicSync into my computer at:

Let me know what music fonts work best and your own experiences.

Indeed, computers can take so long sometimes…, but after you “have it”, isn’t it easy to make so nice documents?
I’ve been using the Bach Musicological Font for some years to write in my word documents and I am quite happy with it (no more double spacing like with Petrucci or Maestro fonts).
And dealing with more complicated examples I normally edit them in Finale and then embeb them as images. I will try how far can I go with MusiQwik…
Thanks for the links!
Thanks for the info. I will definitely try MusiQwik and compare it with my what I am using now.
Dear Janice,
Thank you for providing the website for the download of the musical fornt. I have downloaded but don’t know how to open it and add the musical notations to my word document. Sorry for my limited knowledge with computer, can anyone give me some advise as how to insert the musical notes.
Thanks very much
Have you tried the MusicEd font?

This works best for me.
Thanks for the info. I will definitely try MusiQwik.
