Music Education Ezine
Social Media Tools for Music TeachersDear , Some exciting news for you if you are involved in some of the most common social networks on the internet this week. Are you on Facebook? If you're on facebook, then I've got great news for you. On our new Fun music Company Page you'll find some great free resources. For a while we are going to be posting brand new samples on this page every single week from our latest products. We've also got a discussion forum going, and a place for you to leave a review of any Fun Music Company products that you might have purchased. We know that our discussion forum will become a great resource in itself... For example the latest question is: Imagine if 100 music teachers all posted their best ideas for vocal warm ups in this forum? How amazing would that be? if we can start the ball rolling then the interest in this will spark many more to be involved. Do you Twitter? I'm very excited about this one... you see I've been on twitter for a while, but I've never really done very much with it. Its always seemed a little pointless, listening to loads of people saying what they are doing. However.... There is something coming that is going to change all that. There has been for a while a group called #EdChat - where teachers have all gone on twitter at a particular time to talk about a central topic or anything they want in education. This has become really popular with some teachers. A music education student from the united states has contact myself and lots of other music educators and we've made a time for a special chat just for music education! For more information on #musedchat you can check out this blog post from Andy Zweibel, the brains behind the idea. What a great thing this can be... Imagine hundreds of music teachers coming together every week to share ideas, concerns and talk about the latest news in Music Education. What does it cost to be involved?.... not a dime! Its all free, and always will be! So - the time that it is happening is:
So it doesn't work out brilliantly for teachers in Europe or the UK, being pretty much in the middle of the night, or us in Australia being during a teaching day... However if you can't logon at the time you can always do a search on #MusEdChat any time after it to read the conversation. To participate all you do is do a search on twitter for "#MusEdChat". To contribute to the conversation just put "#MusEdChat" in your messages. So I look forward to communicating with you either on Facebook or Twitter... or anytime by email of course! Have a great week,
