Finding the Best Guitar Lessons on DVD
By Geoff | September 1, 2010
So you have decided to go with a learn guitar DVD course for your guitar lesson needs. And of course you know that you want the highest quality and the most lessons you can get for your money. But how do you go about deciding guitar lesson DVD is best? Your first thought might be to run by the local book store and pick up the first cheap guitar course you come across. However, if you go that route then you most likely will not be happy with what you get. These courses rarely go into the amount of detail needed to get you on your way to mastering guitar. And do you ever even see the instructors face? Seriously, you may not think it’s a big decision but it could be the difference between success and failure when you are starting to learn guitar.
You might also be inclined to visit your local music shop. Now you are definitely getting closer to finding something that you can actually utilize to learn guitar the right way. However, a lot of music stores, the smaller ones at least, have a lot of books and CDs but not a lot of choices in the way of guitar lessons on DVD. The few choices they do have will vary in quality and it is really hard to determine if you are getting your moneys worth until you actually get the product home and throw it in the DVD player.
One of the better ways to find a good course is to ask other people that have already used such courses. When you are trying to determine which learn guitar DVD course to buy, you want to make sure that you are asking people that actually play guitar or even have had some experience teaching. You can usually find such musicians back at your local music shop or anywhere tha Musicians are usually more than happy to give you their recommendations and the more honest reviews you collect, the more likely you will find the right course to learn from.
You also want to take into consideration what your purpose for learning the guitar is. If want to just play classical music then you should look at programs that focus on teaching classical music. This is true no matter what playing style you prefer. You don’t want to waste your time learning country if you intend to only play jazz music. Now, if you just want to learn to play a little bit of everything then you should focus on a course that offers several styles and has a very versatile and professional instructor. A lot of techniques can carry over to multiple styles of music so if you want to become a more versatile guitar player then this is probably the route to go.
So you have been to the local guitar store, the book store, and consulted every musician that you know but your still stuck?! That’s when you head back home, pull up a chair in front of the computer and do some real research. First, you should start by checking out some forums, some review sites, and doing a few Google searches on guitar lessons on DVD. You should soon start to see a few learn guitar DVD programs standing out. You should be able to take this information, make a decision and possibly order a course online. You will be on your way to learning guitar very soon.
